This blog gets its name from a quote in the New Yorker. Dean Simonton, a psychologist who studies geniuses, argues that what characterizes creative geniuses is the sheer number of ideas they produce. We remember them by their very best ideas, and forget how many bad ideas they also produced. “Quality,” says Simonton, “is a probabilistic function of quantity.”
Something about this stuck with me. It is a kind of prescription. In order to have better ideas, have more ideas.
And hence this blog. Each post here represents one idea. In the past, all of these little ideas would have just become little scraps of paper, lying on the bottom of my desk drawer. Now, they are blog posts.
